Overview - Key Assumptions

Oracle Business Accelerators constitute a rapid implementation approach based on
standard business flows and leading industry practices. This solution provides an
online setup tool and associated collateral targeted to a specific industry and/or
country.
The Setup Tool provides a simple structured interface composed of setup questions
and default data that may be modified to meet client requirements. The Setup Tool
represents a starting point for an implementation project using a flexible and
repeatable method for configuring Oracle E-Business Suite applications business
flows. The Setup Tool may be used to configure applications instances for presales
demonstrations, conference room pilot, training, acceptance testing, and ultimately
production.

Warning: You MUST NOT define setups in the E-Business Suite Applications
prior to executing the Oracle Business Accelerator setup tool. Setups defined
in the Oracle E-Business Suite applications will cause the setup tool to fail. All
setups required to configure applications to enable the business flows are
included in the setup tool. Any additional setups or applications you require
may be added to the applications instance after the setup tool has been
executed.

General Business - Thailand

The Oracle Business Accelerator for General Business - Thailand is designed to be a
fully integrated, comprehensive solution for discrete manufacturing and service
industry businesses of any size. This solution includes configuration options for 40
standard business flows across 45 application modules. Functional areas covered by
this solution include:

Manufacturing & Maintenance

Sales & Service

Projects

Implementers may choose to configure the business flows from any one or all of the
included business functions listed above. There is no requirement to implement all of
the functions included in the footprint for this solution. Additional functionality not
included in the standard business flows or from applications not included in this
solution’s footprint must be configured manually after the Setup Tool has been
executed.


Basic Assumptions

To accomplish a rapid implementation certain assumptions are made. At the most
basic level, assumptions built into the Oracle Business Accelerator are:

• Standard business flows include the basic and most common
functionality required for each functional area given the subject industry
and country.

• Only Oracle E-Business Suite Applications required to support the
functionality of the included Business flows as they are packaged and
tested for this solution are licensed. Licensing of additional functionality
not included in the business flows or applications footprint may be
added only after final successful execution of the Setup Tool.

• The Setup Tool is designed to facilitate the configuration of setups
required to support the standard business flows.

• Three distinct Setup Tool options are available to support:

o A Training or Demonstration Instance,
o A simple fixed organization structure for basic implementations,
or
o A flexible multiple organization structure designed to suit the
requirements for more complex organizations implementation.

• The setup approach is based on Oracle E-Business Suite Applications
implementation leading practices. To the extent leading practices are
dictated by Industry specific practice, such practices are used where
applicable.

• All users of the Setup Tool should be proficient and experienced Oracle
E-Business Suite Applications implementers who have undergone the
pre-requisite Oracle Business Accelerator training.

The Oracle Business Accelerator business flows include the basic and most common
applications functionality utilized across Oracle E-Business Suite Applications. The
Setup Tool and associated business flows should not be construed to encompass all of
the rich and varied functionality available within Oracle Applications. This solution
is intended to satisfy requirements for the broadest segment of the target market. The
implementer is NOT limited to the setups provided by the Oracle Business
Accelerator. Additional functionality is available in the E-Business Suite and may be
utilized at the implementer’s discretion to satisfy client requirements provided that
the additional functionality is included in the client’s Applications software license
agreement.

To develop the business flows and the associated default setups, an analysis of
typical functionality and configurations was performed using a sample set of
implementations deemed to represent the target market for business flows. Based
upon this analysis, standard business flow setup questions were developed. A
sample business organization model and basic setup values for each application is
included with the setup questions. These default setup values are intended to
accelerate the implementation process and serve as a foundation for your
implementation. The setup values may be modified to meet client specific
requirements. The setup questions provide a reasonable level of flexibility in
configuration options to support the business flows.
Common and leading implementation practices were distilled down to basic
assumptions reflecting how most implementations are conducted. With assistance
from field consultants, subject matter experts, and application developers, optimal
methods for configuring setups in key areas were identified and reasonable
limitations upon functionality of the Setup Tool were established.
Finally, underlying the Oracle Business Accelerator approach is the assumption that
the Setup Tool is to be utilized only by experienced Oracle Applications
implementers who have undergone the necessary Oracle Business Accelerator
training. Users should have a basic understanding of the intricacies inherent in the
underlying setup relationships and requisite data in the Oracle E-Business Suite
Applications.
The objective of this document is to provide the necessary insight into the key
assumptions and guidelines inherent in the Oracle Business Accelerator solution.
